I recommend the Nokia BH-214, its got a 3.5" jack (use your own headphones) and media buttons and it works great with my n900... Pretty good battery life too from what I can tell as it has not died on me yet - gets used a couple of times a week! Has a built in clip on the back which works well too!
Highly recommended - its also pretty cheap, cannot remember where I got mine but it was around $40 back in december...

It works very well, I've only one problem: since PR1.1 upgrade, N900 doesn't save call volume.

Anyone in the market for one of these have a look at Plantronics / Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 / 906. Had mine for a day now (amazon.uk £52, the 903 model) and I love it. I wanted something with as little cables as possible so didnt go for the jabra. The fit is perfect, is adjustable, they are soooo light, sounds great AND I can change my shirt or top without any interruptions 
Really recommended!

Just to give you guys an update. I bought BT3030 from eBay and really like them. They work great as a BT remote even when using FM Transmitor (perfect for car use).
One issue that I did come across couple of times is that sometimes when I pair them with N900, the volume through the headphones are very very low. Even on max volume I can barely hear anything (even when BT3030 is fully charged).
This does not happen often but does happen enough time to make me think that the headset has some issues.
Any suggestion ?

Nokia BH 505 also works like a charm. added advantage is that they come with splash proof earbuds. means u can also use them while jogging or in slight drizzle. all media buttons function well..
