3. get a timeline under this movies showing how long playing....
i love the tool. keep going
Thanks for the suggestions.
I dont think from the XMLTV data ( atleast most of what Ive seen) , has the category populated , so it may be not possible to identify which programmes are movies.
However I will check to see if there is some way.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the XMLTV files are pretty big to read/parse, and sometimes there are over 300 channels ! so be prepared for a long wait if we need to search for specific stuff across all channels

sorry. i dont mean movies i meanmall types of programms currently playing...

it would be super, if showtime will automaticly scroll to the current time in view, so thatmi see whats up right now.

and you dont need to parse all channels, only that ones in favs or selected...
and than show "now playing" to each of this channels

thx for the fats reply

goog work, love it

I liked the idea, will see what I can do about this for a future update.
But as I said there will be a delay in parsing so many channel files ( depending on the number you have in favourites, if you have about 10 I think it should near instant something like 50 or 100 might slow it down a few seconds ).

Even NokiaRocks had given a similar suggestion to parse all favourite channels in 1 go.

Yes, it will work for any region so long as there is some place I can grab the xmltv files from.

tv_grab_na_dtv is a grabber script that creates these xmltv files.
Usually there are websites that host the output of these grabber scripts which are xmltv format, I need one such link.

for example :
http://dikkeveter.nl/mythtv/xmltv/
hosts xmltv files for netherlands , there may be more.

SchedulesDirect provides this service as I mentioned in my first post in this thread but unfortunately they charge $20 per year, Im sure there are free sites. I'll look around too.
If you can find one , I'll be happy to add the US region to the app.

Alternatively, if you are happy to generate them yourself and host it, then Im sure there will be many maemoians in the US who will be happy
All you need is to run that grabber script either daily/weekly and host the output on your webserver . I can try and help with that.

thanks.

Hi,
I've been reading up on this. Didn't know anything about XMLTV. I see how the problem evolved now. No way to run the script on the N900 and host the files on each device?

I did think of it initially, but it needs a lot of dependencies to install/configure/run also it will be pretty slow on the N900.
Besides, doing this for each region is really not maintainable , will be a lot more work involved.
Its probably much easier doing it on your desktop and hosting it for a region.
I'll try to give it more thought.

Let me know what you come up with for options. We'll see what we can come up with.

How much data would Showtime suck for an update?

if the data is weekly, then the gzipped filesize is usually arnd 600KB - 2MB.
If data is daily its about 50-150KB.

The application has everything you want from such a good and advanced software. Just wonder if bushes instead of Polish characters to blame my software or application is not yet adapted to the Polish characters?
