Actually you can't install Skype on HD2 (or any other Windows Mobile device), at least from official sources. Skype has recently retired their Windows Mobile application due to unsatisfactory user experience. They are making a new version for Windows Phone 7, which is not backward-compatible. And recent news is that HD2 will not be upgraded to WP7.
Anyway, you can install a Skype-compatible client. Fring does a very good job.

HD2 has bigger screen, but the same resolution as N900, 800x480.
N900 has the best browser I ever tried on a mobile device. The closest thing to a PC. But Opera on HD2 is very good too. The only caveat is that it does not support Flash natively. Internet Explorer Mobile supports Flash, but offers an overall poorer browsing experience. So I think you will have to use both in daily life, choosing on a website-by-website basis.

HD2 is an impressive smartphone and has more mature software than N900 (my brother has HD2 so I could try it a little). The N900 advantages include the keyboard, better camera and speakers, TV-out, more storage memory and the Maemo OS which makes it very similar to a Linux PC capability-wise.

I have checked HD2 and ran the IE, I went to Yahoo Finance to check the flash stock charts but it was not able to run that. It did not load it at all , It showed me a grey area which had a '9' icon on it. some one can tell me as discussed where is flash support in Hd2, it there?

As has been said before, "It depends on what you plan to use the device for."

In my case, I do a lot more e-mail reading & writing than web browsing. The e-mail client on the n900 is somewhat lacking. I'm considering leaving the n900 for the HD2 simply for it's fully mature Exchange sync.

I went to Y!F and I am able to see stock charts on N900. Not sure is it exactly that you want...

Thx for the info. Although this is very bad news... my declaration was based on some forums where ppl said they installed Skype Mobile succesfully at HD2.

Never used Fring, but I expect it not to have the same Skype features, correct?

HD2 has bigger screen, but the same resolution as N900, 800x480.
Yes you're right again, "egoshin" corrected me before. I think I am reading too many reviews...

Well based on the experience the member "animistry" told us above (Y!Finance flash charts), looks like GSMArena.com is correct about the "dodgy flash experience" using HD2+IE...

...and the Maemo OS which makes it very similar to a Linux PC capability-wise.
Yes but based on these forum's posts it looks like a Linux PC capability-wise phone/tablet will require a Linux PC capable user, but I am not in a mood to work again throughout command lines, terminals and cryptic programming... did it a lot in early 90's, but I am not confortable to do that nowadays all over again, mainly over a phone.

BTW: is that true that N900 email client is unable to show the message headers only, but instead one must download the entire email itself? If so, there is another (very) negative aspect for N900 IMHO.
(yes I know you could use the browser but I would expect a litlle flexibility for a so called tablet/phone at this price range).

Personally, I have owned N900 twice already. I went back to N97 twice for its (to me) superior skype capabilities mainly provided by Fring and its video call features. N97 has front facing cam btw o_O. IMHO N900 is an excellent tablet, but if you want smartPHONE... WinMo ain't that bad running under snappy Sense powered by 1GHZ Snapdragon. Plus your office docs, email, nav, PC (win os) sync suddenly becomes ordinary task. N900 ftw!

I've been trying to make this decision myself recently. I'm not a fan of WinMo, but Sense may hide it well enough. The pros I'm seeing in the HD2 (for me) are the screen, overall thinness, and GPS navigation. For the N900 I much prefer Maemo, the camera is better, and the browser is superior.

I find myself going back and forth between the two everyday, but need to get a new phone. For those of you with the HD2, did you ever try the skyfire browser and can you compare it to he IE, Opera, and N900 browsers?

well winMO isnt that great .. i had one in my hand the other day and i was so close to throw it in the toilet it was realy a pain in the as.. to navigate .

The support from HTC are realy horrible its and it is true that they dont care about already shipped phones soo NO support from them att all.

Nokia still gives support to OLD phones but sure they to are not the best at support either. but eventualy they give support.

I would NEVER EVER buy a winMo and when winMO 7 are comming its just going to be the same shi.. like all the other versions out there.

M$ should just stick to Desktop platforms and keep there hands off mobil phones..

I have heard about skyfire and that it supports Flash. But again Skyfire guys it does not completely support it and is still in Beta stage. Another browser firefox has also come out with their browser for download for winmo but only at the aplha stage and the list of known issues state that it crashes on hd2 for the moment. But i am sure with these two browsers developing for the winmo it is good news for winmo and Hd2. Another thing with the Opera 10 the latest one is athat it supports Flash lite 3.1 but is by default switched off which you can turn on from settings. Can someone try these browsers and chck Yahoo charts if it loads with with complete intereactive charts where you are able to pull down menus etc on it.
