Putting a windows virus in linux works just as well as talking louder and slower to someone that does not speak your language. It doesn't do anything.
But it did affect maemo mate?... the trojan changed the extension of the folders, therefore the phone wasn't able to read them, so linux ain't almighty after all...

Actually, if you read he said that it just affected his files on there, not maemo. Also, had maemo had the drive mounted this would not happen. When you go into mass storage mode it unmounts your personal files. So, technically, he plugged what is equal to a usb thumb drive to an infected windows pc, unplugged it, and plugged it back into his phone.

emm, it was ME who did that? ... i gotta give you the USB equality part, but it did affect maemo, the extension changing ****ed up the phone, and my desktops kept going black then normal like it lost the file for a sec, then found it again etc...

What does linux have to do with corrupted files? Changing the extension to exe just mean you have to either change them back or when you click on them select the application that you would normally open it with.

you could technically mess some things up with a windows virus. You could have it change all of your folders names and put a . in front of them. I bet that would make some people mad.

but the most important part is, that the machine you plug your device to does all the tricks. maemo isn't affected straight at all.

This thread title is very mileading and sha complete misunderstanding of the basics by the OP. The N900 in question was affected by a virus renaming some personal files and that is it. There is no rogue process operating on the device itself and therefore no virus is active. By definition a virus has to be able to propegate itself from machine to machine (like the organic equivalent) to be called such.

Sounds like your host computer is infected with kspoold.exe

http://www.symantec.com/business/sec...741-99&tabid=2

This has nothing to do with linux or maemo.
