I remember its done using the maemo flasher tool just cant remember where the guide was

No no when i flash my n900 i still have everything on the 32gb drive like phortos ect ect music but everything that was installed on the OS is formated not the actual 32gb drive

Flashing the eMMC is not require for N900 other than for pre-production devices. I never did it when I flashed mine bu then I did not change the firmware version.

However the details are also on the Wiki page I linked to

I did a fresh install of WinXP on my desktop and it all worked fine! If you don't want to do that: Download Linux Live, burn in onto a disc, boot with it and follow instructions here: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware

I had probldems flashing the n900. The FIASCO image worked fine but the Vanilla image wouldnt flash I found out the drivers required SP3 installed. Would someone add that to the wiki.

It took me about 3 hours to find the probleme.
