Strange... I have it set to portrait and I have never seen the phone app even try to go to landscape, since I changed the setting (except when I open the keyboard)

I have had this also but now when i test, it seems to be working ok.

i THINK this occurs when someone is actually ringing you. I have had experiences where i have gone to hang up and the phone has flipped. again i have just tested this and for the life of me i cant get it to falter but it has happened enough for me to notice this and seems others have too.

all in all wouldnt say it was a show stopper though

Even when you set orientation to Portrait, phone app in background is in landscape.
And when device is hold in landscape and you receive a phone call, the phone app appears in foreground landscape and then flips to portrait. And in that fliping time it is impossible to answer a phone.

It definitely doesn't get 100% fixed in portrait. I've reflashed my N900 but still same. It will rotate to landscape during call quite often. It really gets annoying when you can't even press the Speaker or the End button.

it would be really helpful if ppl could "thank" to the posr when they're having the same problem. also i think people with real solutions or solution attempts should reply to the post. it's reallly annoying to read so many posts and pages of replies for nothing but people replying to unrelated things. just an opinion.

i have a similar annoying issue with the randomly rotating phone app.
i've set it to portrait only, and what happens is when i get the phone out of lock with the side switch, press the phone shortcut, the app launches in portrait, but right away it flips to landscape, regardless of the keyboard and the phone orientation, then when i press the 'keypad' button, it goes back to portrait. other applications shows there is no problems with the accelerometer either...

can post up a video of this happening if it gives a better idea.

i just want the entire phone app to stay in portrait and never be in landscape, seems this isnt working at the moment.

hi there, i was wondering if there is an app or if it is easy to edit something and force the phone application to always launch in portrait mode.
it is designed to work in portrait mode too + there is the switch to change modes depending on orientation.

anyways i was too furstrated that i just couldnt predict where the answer/end call button will be when i remove the phone from my pocket.

so is there any1 that can design something about it? or some app that already exists?

ermm the phone app can be launched in portrait or landscape. goto phone app and click the top bar and set the mode.
