I was playing about with my Sony Ericsson W600i and I stumbled upon somthing quite fun... A remote control Java program that works with my N800.

Many on this site have wondered if a "mouse" is available for the N800.. and this is almost just that.

I have a few images of the phone and menu.. also a short video of using it in action..

I wonder... are any of you "savy enough" to Make a "full featured" Java program that is spacific for the N800.. The Desktop remote control on the phone works.. but some menu items cannot be accessed, and the volume can only be accessed if i exit the desktop menu.. and enter the "presenter" menu, even then I can only decreace the volume.. not raise it.

But what is apparent.. It Works!.. and that means that someone with the capability can simply re-engineer the existing software.. or make one from scratch that will fully play with the N800 Gui. Thus giving us a "mouse".. sort of.

My camera is the lose... and my ability with it is worse... sorry for the poor quality.. but the images and movie serve the purpose to show what is possible.. and the potential of a N800 Java program written spacifically to manipulate the N800 Gui.

Oh.. the phone ane N800 are paired via bluetooth connection, also media player doesnt seem to play the .mov.. but mplayer plays it just fine.

Sony ericcson phones have an app called remote control in their entertainment menu if you pair it with n800 you can control apps and generally remote control it.

It is part of the firmware - I don't see any connection to java virtual machines when it loads hence my reason for suggesting it isn't java based.

I'm hoping this sofware will allow my WM5 Ipaq's QWERTY keypad be used as an external BT keyboard for the N800.

Looks nice! I will check it out.
You can control your Linux multimedia apps with ReMoot as well. ReMoot let you control Xmms, Amarok, Kaffeine, Banshee, Quodlibet, Totem, Xine, Juk, Rhythmbox, Noatun and Kmplayer from your N800 or any other web enabled gadget. ReMoot can also be used with your multimedia keybord keys.

I believe the Bluetooth service for the other device must be supported by the N800. It does support the HID service, as well as the obvious transfer services - vCard, vCalender, etc. It does not seem to implement the HID service all that well. I tortured the guys at Softpocket.ca trying the Freedom Universal, and Think Outside keyboards. It seems the N800 does not support those natively. It won't even pair with the Think Outside keyboard, and it's not thrilled with the Freedom, but it will pair. More research now....
