Hi everyone,

I have a N900 and absolutely love it. My friend said i should get an iphone because they are simple to use but i prefer something a little more techy. However, i am now a little stuck because i want to learn japanese using flashcards on my phone.

Ive downloaded ankmaemi, ankiqt, qteachme, tomotko and word by word. I havnt managed to get any of these to work with the flash cards i want to use (japanese for busy people vol 1).

Does anyone know of any other apps? Or can someone provide me with a guide to get these working?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hmm.. I don't know anything about the series you're using (or any other Japanese Language series, for that matter), but if you could tell me what file format the flash cards are provided in, that would be a good start. Also, I assume that the flash cards are subject to copyright by the publisher? My friend tells me that Anki's library may have something similar, but I would assume that they wouldn't have permission to reproduce something such as this. You could also ask around about this on the Anki mailing list.
Is Anki stable on the N900 yet? I've been waiting for it for other reasons.

Hi,

Please send me the file and I'll have a look at loading it into QTeachMe. My email address is in the about box of the app. I'm using QTeachMe with Chinese characters, so it should be possible.

For toMOTko, it's easy because the glossary is already available here:

http://tomotko.sourceforge.net/en/glossaries.shtml

To use it, read the Getting started quickly section in the Help. You will find how to import an existing glossary. Be careful, you do not need to unzip the glossary file, import as is. The application wil unzip it for you.

The toMOTko application is not finished yet. I hope to complete it within a month. Nonetheless, even in its current state, it works well enough IMHO. You should have no problems to use it to learn Japanese.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I'm still hoping to see QTeachme for Diablo as well.

Been checking your thread about once every three days or so.

Thanks Magnuslu!

Now I don't have to huddle next to my computer every day, pounding the refresh button on your stupid, non-updating thread!

Has anyone managed to use any of these programs with Romanji characters? I'm also interested in learning a few japanese words for my next journey this summer.
