I'd recommend you buy a phone with a completely closed OS that's also developed without any community involvement (like a public bugzilla).

This way, you'd never know if a certain bug is being worked on at all (or is even known), let alone if a fix is already available but not deployed... must be heaven for you

Take it this way. This is not a new bug. It's a regression from pr1.1, so i expect it to be fixed asap.

And please don't insist on closed os, you have found the wrong person to troll with.

so if you know what the 'regression' is, and what the 'binary' is (especially certified deliverable) you should know that 'bug fixed and marked as fixed in bugzilla' doesn't mean it is ready for release since there should be one more regression test run at least, some integration, smoke, functional testing runs etc. This bug fix doesn't come alone as a hot fix. So wait until 1.2 is certified (Nokia most likely do not want to release unstable PR again because of this thread too) or look for any workaround if any. or rollback to 1.1 which you know was working.

guys don't rush it...pr 1.2 will be released when it's completely done..we don't half baked update with more bugs..so just relax and do ur thing and don't think about the update for now

Nokia probably have amnesia with regard to it's PR release date. Seem like only us that remember about it lol.

Whats interesting here is that people have no patience and they somehow think that nokia do it any differently than any other company.

iphone OS 4.0 has been announced as summer this year and the ipad will not get the OS until fall... Now that really sucks and "summer" is a fairly broad range for a release date! Way to pin that down apple... I dont want an update which will brick my phone, Nok are going to test the crap out of it as they dont want people mailing in bricked devices for repair because of a fault they released...

Now Nokia have already released 3 updates for the N900 since I got mine in early December - going so far as 2 in one week! That already beats most other handset makers hands down - apple took a year I think before the 1st OS update! Sure the device may have some (key) missing features but overall it works great so I dont mind waiting a little longer!

I want the update as much as everyone else here but mind-numbing long (1000+) speculative threads really add zero value to the discussion at all, especially with all the finger pointing at Nokia...

The one thing I wish Nok would do with firmware is separate the apps from the core (hardware/kernel) firmware and then release updates independently instead of large 100-200MB updated. Google has already talked about doing just this to avoid the fragmentation of android.

Another huge win for Nokia on this platform I think would be to open up the source for these apps too (email, conversations etc...) as there are a lot of great developers writing some really good apps in extras and extras-testing right now!

Well this thread is waste of time, but i say the same that have been said 100 times.
There's no mobile phone company in this world that announces updates before the release. Heck Samsung or SE don't usually even announce them when they are released the rare times they got updates.

I honestly still wonder why people cry over this fw. It's not going to change the phone. Most of us seem happy with it because we knew what we where buying. Open source phone with best browser, great screen, best multitasking with WebOS and great community around it.
