I'd like you all to welcome Brik (Kamilla Bremeraunet), the 2010 GSOC student who will be joining me to work on Facebrick under the Maemo umbrella.

For more information on what she'll be doing, take a look at: http://blog.rburchell.com/2010/05/gs...facebrick.html

I'm sure she'll pop her head in here in a moment to say hello.

(Next release planned for this week, just a few minor changes to tide you over - more is coming - really )

Hi, my name is Kamilla and I will be working on FaceBrick over the summer :-)

I'm a student at the University of Hull studying for my Masters of Engineering in Software Development with 1 year to go. Like an real geek, I love cats, and also ducklings!

What I will be doing over the summer is implementing a desktop widget (one that is a bit more useful than the existing desktop widget) and messaging support. Any suggestions to this are welcome :-)

I guess that's it... *wave to everyone*

are going to be modifying the desktop widget or creating a new one from scratch

The existing desktop widget is closed source, so I wouldn't be able to use that one. It would also not integrate with the rest of FaceBrick as the two are separate applications.

I also have vague hopes that we'll be able to keep the widget working through to the MeeGo transition, but we'll see, eh?

(The rest of FaceBrick should be portable easily at least. )

Welcome ! Cats and ducklings together sometimes can be a "diferent" experience...

Thanks for the help in this and hope you have fun while at it !

w00t found something that might interest you (or maybe not but still !)

I installed ubuntu a couple of days ago on a spare laptop just to check out the 10.04 release (using mostly Gentoo/Slackware/Debian on my other box's but i like to keep up with stuff) and with it came a nice social agregator that does display a good Facebook feed, it's called Gwibber, i didn't check dependencies or any real important stuff but still found it a great app to be ported (or atleast a great source for code inspiration you could probably use in Facebrick) for our social networks needs...

I'd give it a peak or atleast see what they use for fetching info since they can displaye a pretty nice feed showing most of the things people post.

I don't use Facebrick alot usually just go for the full website, i use Facebrick mostly to update my status in a quick way, but improvements are always welcome !

Oh ! Nice !

Never really looked it up to see if it was ported or running already like i said I just tried it today, if that version reads the FB feed aswell as the desktop version (I don't see why not) it does pretty much the same as Facebrick (didn't see if it supported those fb quirks "like" and comments but still)

My FB username has numbers and I am not able to input the numbers using my N900 keyboard. Also tapping on the username/email doesn't open up the virtual keyboard however the password does open up the virtual keyboard.

Strange!

Similarily, when I was at the Facebook Connect page, the @ symbol on the real keyboard would not work, it just created a space, so I couldn't put in my email address.

This was with the current version of facebrick.

I solved it by copying and pasting my email address, so there's no problem now, but if it's happening for other people it might be worth having a look at. Thanks for working on this app!

If there's a way that we can help development in an ad-hoc way, please let us know. (i.e I'd be happy to be one of a group of 10/20 testers that reported to you on a list of things you wanted to know).
