The icons are stored in /usr/share/icons
The only way you can do this is adding a new icons folder and modding rules file to add the folder in the .deb package. Also you need to add a command to move the folder to the correct location in postinst script.

Look at the themes the Synthesize guys made for Diablo.
Although they didn't use MADDE, their themes included custom icons that would only be set when their theme was chosen and their themes also use Autotools.

In theory I knew this, but if someone with knowledge could provide info on how to actually modify the rules -file and what to add in postinst -script, it would be HIGHLY appreciated
