since i updated to 1.2 and scroll the application list i have to constantly touch the screen to scroll down. with the old firmware i could just scroll once and it would go right to the bottom. it feels like the kinetic scrolling on the app list has been removed

I agree, but I will describe it a little different :
The friction has been increased drastically, too my in my opinion.

MicroB used to scroll so nicely using the arrow keys and now it has odd behaviour that sometimes scrolls almost a page with a single press and sometimes it does what it used to. Is there a formal bug report about this?

I'm sure if we file a bug report about it they'll tell us it's a feature and it's much better this way and we're only too dumb to realize it. always like that when nokia ruins a once working user interface.

The application manager is free. You can fix the bug yourself.

Agreed.
Bugs such as this are always treated like "this is probably a WONTFIX for Maemo 5" because, well, because because.

Probably, like the messing around with the OSK keyboard. I'm bad enough with OSK keyboards as is. Now they modified it so much it increased my typing errors when I use it to type short 5 word sentences.

Frankly I think whenever Nokia changes things like the OSK keyboard or the application menu scrolling it should be an option in settings.

Say for OSK:

a) New
b) Old [deappreciated, IE: no official support]

But I know it's alot more complicated then that.

I agree. The new OSK is a load of here shepe. I can't get on with it at all, and I don't like the hold to get FN symbols either. I liked the fact I could use my keyboard like a normal laptop keyboard.

I'm pretty sure you hold "shift" to get symbols on a laptop keyboard
