Greetings:

How does one put a N800 on Standby mode?

I know that I can lock the keys and screen.

But I can't seem to unlock it.

The screen gives me instructions on how to unlock, and I tried to
press the buttons but it doesn't work.

So how do we place an N800 on standby mode?

Regards Robert

To unlock it, press the power button, then release the power button, then press the middle-joystick button, then release the middle-joystick button.

I usually prefer to enable "Soft poweroff" mode by editing /etc/systemui/systemui.xml, and uncommenting the relevant lines. I also tend to move that item to the top by adjusting its priority. When I let my N800 torrent, I put it in "Soft poweroff" mode, which really just means it doesn't accept any keypresses or screen taps, and the screen is turned off; the CPU isn't halted, the network card remains turned on, etc.
