you can now ask for a free upgrade from 500mb to 1gb i called 191 yesterday and the first guy i spoke to didn't know what i was talking about but once i had checked the eforum and called them back refering to the post that it is stated on they upgraded me with no problem.

I haven"t had to agree to any new terms and conditions or anything so will still cancell if i get charged for going over the 1gb fup, but for now at least im less likely to go over and can browse/download without worrying about additional charges

Oh really? FOR FREE YOU SAID? *does the happy dance* I had a message from them 2 days ago, I called them and the lady at the other end was like "er...yeah..just delete it, it must've been a mistake!" Basically, she didn't have a clue!

guys be careful

going from an unlimited plan a 1GB plan is NOT an "upgrade" by any stretch of imagination regardless of what they say

once you agree to the new plan (which is a hard cap, meaning you'll be charged as soon as you hit 1GB) there's no way they'll let you cancel as you have agreed to the new plan which is certainly not ambiguous as the old "unlimited" fup

if it was just about raising your "fup limit", certainly there was no need for your agreement.... the fact that they want you to call and ask for the new plan is just to screw you once for all, so that you'll have a hard cap, will be charged if you exceed it, and will have no option to cancel the contract in future.
Sorry matts but i wouldn't be so happy if i were you, you haven't done a bargain there...

did you really believe that VF suddenly got all generous??

I've just checked with Voda: the 1gb price plan is only for iphone users.

no ben, the new "upgrade" (which is effectively a downgrade) is available for N900 contracts as well, if was officially announced on the Vodafone eforum

if you called 191, they're useless, they'll give you a different answer every time you call them

i reiterate my advice... do NOT change your plan!!!

quote from the VF forum

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/57...page__st__1980

- Is it true that the 500MB limit has now been scrapped and replaced with a 1GB limit?

It hasn’t been scrapped for all handsets but if you have a HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Desire, Nexus One (which was previously 1GB), HTC HD2, SE X10, Samsung Galaxy S or Nokia N900, you can ask for a free upgrade from 500Mb to 1Gb as long as your line rental and commitment period are preserved. This is available from today.

The 1GB data cap on the new plans are capped and not fair usage, as soon as the 1GB of data is used a charge will be incurred for the extra data, the price for this is £5 for 500MB data.
basically once you agree to the new plan, you give up any arguments you might have that you were sold an "unlimited" plan as you understand and accept you'll have a 1 GB hard cap

they certainly know how to screw you

ive got the 1gb upgrade ive not signed anything and was very carefull in my wording in case the try to use that against me to say "i would like to request the free upgrade of my fup to 1gb, i also recorded the conversation to be on the safe side.

But for me its all about functionality, i use around 700mb per month and am otherwise quite happy with my call and text allowance.

I got the SMS saying I was over the allowance, so I've text back with STOP.

The SMS said I wouldn't be charged for going over and now I've text STOP they can't warn me again or charge me?
