you can now ask for a free upgrade from 500mb to 1gb i called 191 yesterday and the first guy i spoke to didn't know what i was talking about but once i had checked the eforum and called them back refering to the post that it is stated on they upgraded me with no problem.
I haven"t had to agree to any new terms and conditions or anything so will still cancell if i get charged for going over the 1gb fup, but for now at least im less likely to go over and can browse/download without worrying about additional charges

guys be careful
going from an unlimited plan a 1GB plan is NOT an "upgrade" by any stretch of imagination regardless of what they say
once you agree to the new plan (which is a hard cap, meaning you'll be charged as soon as you hit 1GB) there's no way they'll let you cancel as you have agreed to the new plan which is certainly not ambiguous as the "unlimited fup" one
if it was just about raising your "fup limit" they certainly had no need for your agreement.... the fact that they want you to call and ask for it is just to screw you once for all, sorry matts but i wouldn't be so happy if i were you...
did you really believe that VF suddenly got all generous??

- Is it true that the 500MB limit has now been scrapped and replaced with a 1GB limit?
It hasn’t been scrapped for all handsets but if you have a HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Desire, Nexus One (which was previously 1GB), HTC HD2, SE X10, Samsung Galaxy S or Nokia N900, you can ask for a free upgrade from 500Mb to 1Gb as long as your line rental and commitment period are preserved. This is available from today.
The 1GB data cap on the new plans are capped and not fair usage, as soon as the 1GB of data is used a charge will be incurred for the extra data, the price for this is £5 for 500MB data.
