I'm slightly concerned that there is too much emphasis being placed on getting the queue cleared and not enough on ensuring that the testing process is rigourous.
Every person voting an app up should have installed it, given it a good testing (this may take a couple of days in some cases) and, if possible, checked the optification/licence status and so on. reading the testing page on the wiki is a must.
I don't mean to critisise here, torpedo48 is doing a (mostly) thankless job very well. I just want to make sure we don't get carried away with numbers and let standards slip.

After that, login in maemo.org (different than talk.maemo.org) and start clicking on the links on my list and voting. You can easily start with apps that can be voted down, they take about 5 secs each one for seeing what it's wrong with them. If you have troubles in following/understanding testing rules, just ask!
