Hey there, hope this is the appropriate forum for this. I'm trying to flash pr 1.2 onto my N900 via Maemo Flasher 3.5 which I have installed on a Nokia Booklet 3gs running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Whenever I type the flash command into CMD, Windows asks me if I'd like Maemo Flasher 3.5 to execute, which I expect I do - so I click yes. Nothing happens for a moment, then I see a Dos box open and close immediately afterwards. It looks to me as if the Flasher is crashing before it can do anything. Is this a known problem? and are there other flashers I can use that're compatible with the N900? Cheers

I used that up until the point I had to write this thread. As I said in my post, the flasher itself doesn't appear to be booting. I need another flasher, or something

Well I think the article clearly states that there are issues with windows 7 and the flasher. It suggests ways to work around that problem. Ultimately you may just have to find another OS

i dont have this problem on win 7 ultimate 32 bit (x86), you could try right clicking flasher 3.5.exe and from properties - compatability mode select xp sp3

are you 32 bit or 64?

Are you running as Admin, if not try that.

Otherwise why are you running flasher anyway?

You open a dos window and then change the directory to flasher.
you do not execurte flasher alone but you run the flasher command with the firmware name:-

flasher-3.5.exe -F "firmware name.bin" -f -R

Then with the N900 off you press the u button and connect the N900.

Flasher will take a few seconds searching for the device and then start the flashing.

Okay,
1. Is the folder where the flasher and pr1.2.bin file is.
2. Is my CMD trying to run the firmware
and 3. is what happens every time I type the flasher command. When I press yes on that dialog box, the momentarily perceived crashing of the flasher happens and nothing else.

Turn off UAC in windows 7. That should sort it.

I hope your Win 7 is 32bit, as flasher does not work in the 64 bit version.
