This is actually a great tip, I installed and used this app to disable the red LED during the recording of videos... BUT I was talking about desabling the red light on the BACK SIDE of the device (where the photo flash normally resides)! Any solution to that problem? BTW, how can I revert my changes done with the LED Patterns Editor?

uhh interesting, i didn't know there's an orange/red LED on the other side. we thought you meant the red one for when the OTHER video camera is recording...
There's a button to restore your settings right in the LED patterns editor, which you would see if you tried looking, never mind the search function of the message board. I mean, seriously, what a silly question. "CLICK THE BUTTON THAT SAYS RESTORE ORIGINAL PATTERNS TO RESTORE ORIGINAL PATTERNS"

Before you ask, you can click "Save" to Save as well!!

Enable the Extras-Testing repository; it's in there.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing

Afaik, there's a function in the LED Patterns applet that allows you to revert to the original patterns; it might be the Extras-Devel version though.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-devel

A note about extras-testing and extras-devel: Refrain from updating or installing applications from there unless you have a clear goal (i.e. don't go on a shopping spree), because as the names imply, applications in those repositories are still in testing or development phase.

Edit:

The front LED (the one for notifications) is supposed to light up red when the front camera is being used, according to the LED patterns in mce.ini, but yeah, still out of context.

Edit 2: It's a very bad idea to download a .deb from the package listing and install it manually. That's only there as a (close to) last resort or for testing/development purposes.

First of all, don't waste my time making pointless posts. Secondly, there is no restore option (just looked again - no such button). Thirdly, get a life and a girlfriend/wife and put your libido in that direction, instead of putting drama into a technical internet forum!

Keep the personal attacks out. It's against the terms of use and forum rules.

If you read my post (which I'm sure you did, since you clicked thanks), the function's in either the extras-devel or extras-testing version of the software. I only said "never mind" because I assumed Creamy Goodness was talking about the Extras version.

(And I can confirm there is such a button.)

Still there is no Live Focus app in the app manager. BTW, the search function is missing BADLY in the app manager.
If the repo list can't be fetched, then you're missing all the apps from that repo (including ones on there, like live focus). Try refreshing. I've just refreshed mine and it work, so if yours persists in not refreshing you may want to check the settings, or delete/re-install it.

As for searching, it works just like contacts. In the app manager list (I usually go to the "All" list) just start typing the name of the app you're looking for. It will pair down the list to package with what you typed in the title or short description.

Catalog Name: maemo.org extras-testing (Name it whatever you want)
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

Save > Wait for updates > Download > Search for Live Focus > Install.
That probably should help.

he attacks, I responded. I'm not interested in flame wars of any kind, I'm here to learn more about maemo and N900 and to find answers for my questions. If someone has nothing to say about the subject - he/she should shut up - it's that simple. Let's end this useless discussion right now.
