Sigh (:

How do I make it see that it's ok, it can work!?
See https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8207 - looks like there's a package for this coming shortly.

Connecting via usb was a stupid thing with the old FW,

now nokia has (silently ) removed the module g_ether from the standard kernel and has putted the module g_nokia in his place.

Unluckily the usb lan that come from the use of g_nokia is not recognized at all from windows.

So, to get the usb networking back you have to.

#1 download and install the package mad developer which provide the module g_ether

#2 unload (rmmod) the conflicting modules (g_nokia and g_file_storage)

#3 modprobe the module g_ether

#4 bring up and configure the usb interface.

#5 install the drivers for windows

You can use the mad developer gui to accomplish the above steps

then you can easily use the windows ICS to share the connection to the n900.

I'm having problem with the windows ICS actually. Everything else works out great, the connection has been established between the PC and the phone. ICS has been enabled. But there should be something on the phone's side to make it realize that it is on some kind of connection. Cause whenever I launch something that requires internet connection, the Internet menu would pop up and ask me to choose a connection.

"I think I was not very clear there, I want to have internet on my n900 from my PC, I still did not figure it out how to do it"

Why not connect by making an ad hoc wireless network on your pc, that way your N900 can use the pc's internet connection by connecting to your pc via wi-fi (usb wi-fi dongle is required if you pc has no on board wi-fi).

I made one and was able to connect to that ad-hoc network, but still there is no internet connection. ICS has been enabled by the way.

Usually you can only share internet connections that are connected to your pc by Lan connection, you cannot share dial up or usb modem connections over ad hoc wireless networks

I'm connecting the N900 to my PC by USB network. If an ad-hoc connection cannot share usb internet, how can I do it then? I'm so close right now, I could connect my phone to my PC already, now only need a way to share my PC's internet with the phone.

The only way I know is to connect your modem or router to your LAN then set up an ad hok. network.

But this pages tell you how to do it http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=41422 and this is a more technical explanation http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_USB_networking they tell you how to set up a network usb connection between you pc and your N900, you should be able to share your internet conection this way.
