Look mate, not to be rude or anything, but a little bit of anticipation from your side would be nice.

Two questions (actually three) to answer your question:

1. Do you know Google or any other search engine, the one on this site?

2. How big is the plastic theme and how much free space is that going to give you? If you have 0 free space left, would uninstalling just a theme be sufficient, you think?

Somehow, from what you wrote, I have gotten the impression that you don't know what kind of machine you have at your hands. Let me tell you, it is a very powerfull little toy you have there, and it can easily be broken. So, do yourself a favor, and start reading up on this purchase you made. Once you get the basics, it will also have taught you how to formulate questions you might want to ask here. Yes, the learning curve is a bit steep, but if you are willing to invest some time in it, learning Linux is one of the best things any computer interested person could do.

I said it could easily be broken, right? That was good, but just so you know, with more knowledge it becomes easier to fix what you broke as well.

why you want to remove this theme?and why the catalogues?im really confused.first if your rootfs s full of crap it will not help you if you delete a 2 mb theme.try to deinstall some **** and after thatdisable the catalogues via the app manager and delete your theme.if that all dont works(even with terminal)then congratulations you screwed you phone up.if this is the case then flash the emmc and fiasco and stop downloading extras/devel things

Allright. So it took 14 posts in this thread to get to the point where I need to tell you this:

1.
The N900 is a great device but not made for people. The species it's made for is called nerds or geeks. The computer-type ones...

2.
Buying this machine as a non-techie will give you quite a nice phone out of the box, but that's it. After that point, you will have to start working yourself. See point 1.

3.
As a result of point 2, my machine is far from "the same machine as yours". I might have tweaked it, smashed it with a hammer to make it speak German (yes, it needs to be forced a litte to get it to do that) or whatever else has come up in that geek mind of mine (see point 1). So: Giving vague descriptions of symptoms of vaguely described problems is not going to help you. If you get an error message, post that error message without us having to ask for it.

4.
The mere fact that I asked for that information (see 3) should have been taken as a hint. To fire up google, or whatever it is that gets you going.

5.
The fact that you've been able to fill up your root partition means you've been man enough to take this phone beyond human userlevels. You've entered the geek zone. Now you need to be man enough to fix the problems you yourself created. Hint: Atilla has just mentioned one of those methods to start with a tabula rasa, a clean slate. Google his kindly offered proposal.

You said you tried some commands that did not work. Make sure you use the right ones, so google, or use the search engine on this site.

7.
Last but not least. Your device is not a shitty machine! It is in the state it is in now because you chose the geek path, not the human path.

To remove an application/package using the apt-get command You will need to know the "real" package name.

You can use apt-cache search <keyword> to find it like this (You need to be root (run the "root" command first)):
The first part of the output is the "real" package name (black-plastic-theme) - The rest is the description (Dark theme PACKAGE for N900).

Then remove the package using the before mentioned command:
After that I suggest You go into the application manager and remove some stuff... Mainly large games... (wesnoth is one of them).

Check Your free space in the /home filesystem (where most of the application data is installed) using:
As You can see I've got 375M free in /home (I recently removed wesnoth and wesnoth-data which are quite big - 300+M). OpenArena is also a space killer...

DON'T remove "random" applications as You might end up with a device that needs to be re-flashed...
