Yeh that annoys me too. I was comparing browser speeds with my friend's iphone 3gs using my home network. My n900 kept doing this 'loading' behavior while the 3gs was beginning to load the page. Then the page quickly loaded on the n900 but the 3gs still managed to be 1 or 2 seconds quicker. We tested a few websites and it happened every time. The fact that microB is a couple of seconds slower than safari doesnt bother me, its just that weird loading at the start. It feels like its trying to reconnect to the network with each page load, but its already connected.

Code:
$ find /usr | zenity --progress --pulsate --text="Loading..."; browser http://google.com

(and yes that won't load the browser until you kill the loading bar )

I agree. This sometimes gets real annoying. I thought it might be due to power saving of the connection?

purely psychological stuff. keeping in mind flash and resolution, microb is pretty impressive.

yes, it could be fixed somehow but the result wouldn't be changing from present when measuring speed etc.

I think this latency is caused by WiFi power saving. Try turning it off completely to see if it makes a difference.
BTW I'm experiencing the same on WiFi.

Hi All,

I have this behavior too about 2 to 3 seconds every time before it starts to load.
I thought it was just slow dns resolution but cmd line lookups return pretty much instantly...
drives me mad sometimes ;-)

I had/have that in my N800. I got a round it by disabling wlan power savings. I really do not know it this is the same thing.

There is a way of improving this. It has something to do with your provider's DNS adress, but how it really works I don't know.
Go to settings
Select internet connections
Select connections
Select your provider and then press edit
Click "next" twice
Choose advanced
Select IP adresses
For primary DNS enter 8.8.8.8
For secondary enter 8.8.4.4
These are google DNS adresses and tend to resolve a lot quicker. Of course if you don't want "Big Brother" watching you, you can also enter open DNS adresses. You're going to have to look for them yourselves, cause I don't know what they are.
I saw this tip somewhere on this forum, but can't remember which thread.

Also turning off the power saving from connection seems to make the loading faster.
