I don't understand whats the harm in having a faster CPU?
And why should you have to overclock, if you think 1ghz its fast enough?

Higher CPU = less battery time. Thats for starts.
Secondly, a mobile OS should be an OS which is developed to use as minimal resources as possible, so it'd not interfere with the applications running on it, and leave most of the resources for those applications for use.
If your OS is a resource hog, the solution is NOT to build a better platform with more resources hardware-wise, but to build your OS to be slim and smart to begin with.
Stronger hardware is not a solution for a bad code - fixing the code should be the solution.

Well it's supposed to be TI's OMAP36xx and it's 45nm(should also use less power even with the higher clock speed) based. It would be in the same league with A4, hummingbird and all those are well above snapdragon 1ghz.

Interesting to see when that OMAP36xx ships with Droid 2 that how the overcloking goes. TI's stuff have been great at it compared to Qualcomms stuff.

What if you have to go beyond, the normal apps?
One thing i feel is, dual core is the future. So before anyone does, Nokia should do it.

is that so?
so how come that galaxy s, wave or other 1ghz devices run 10 times longer than the n900?

hint: its not only about the raw number.

Not only that, but having the ability to always show a screensaver (eg. date/time, missed calls/messages etc. etc.) on AMOLED screens is a revelation after so many years of blank screens whenever the device is idle.

There's still parts found in http://forum2.mobile-review.com/index.php and i quoted all of them plus some i did read from howardforums.

Tbh, the specs seem outlandish but nothing so far is going against them given the photo leaks.

In my opinion AMOLED screens are only imposter for a store. Never seen a single one that satisfied me in bright sunlight. Perhaps we could see well-engineered AMOLED in a few years. But I don't see this at the next device generation. The step would be to big.
