I am guessing that the price drop is to compete with iPod touch which sells for $299.

Now it's at 232.99! I just bought one to replace my 770 and will be selling my Archos 605 as well!

Hmm... interesting. Hadn't thought of it that way.

That would explain why there's no price drop in Europe, the iPod Touch costs $500 here, the same as the N800.

That does make sense. Get a 8gig sdhc card and the price is a little over $300

Apple sauce anyone?

The price drop was expected by most here I think, but I didn't think it would drop this low so fast. At this price, I'm thinking I might be able to grab a couple for Christmas presents. I hope there's not a shortage because of it though.

This sucks. I was planning on selling mine out of disgust from it being in repair for over two months, but now I'll be losing money on it if I do.

It's at 349€ on Amazon Germany now. I should say that I am not surprised: the iPod touch is at 299€, including 8 GB, and that is a very nice internet tablet indeed.
