this is sad. now it will not even sold to anyone else, anymore, no more developers, no more consumers, just "a phone forgotten in the past."

"N900 is now discontinued after 9 months from release."
yup. that's it.
I have just sold mine after 4 months and gone back to my N96 while waiting for the iphone 4.
The N900 is a fast browser and a good operating system which promised a lot, but unfortunately even Nokia does not seem to be able to follow on the promise to release MMS or voice navigation. Also there are not many software developers who have jumped on the Maemo wagon, so I had the feeling I have been abandoned. Look how many are on sale on eBay. Also I have not heard of any future Nokia maemo models in the pipeline.

This is discussed at length in many posts here.

Maemo is being supplanted by Meego. A device (?N9?) is expected...sooner I hope.... later this year running a Maemo 6 / Meego transition OS, with full on Meego devices later yet....

Which they never promised. If you're going to hold people to a promise, ensure it's one they actually made.

I would like to see where they promised MMS and voice navigation.

During my communiction with Nokia through emails, I was told they are working on it and some other posters did write that they will be available soon according to Nokia.

Well, I was told they are working on it
Here is a quote from the email: "As of now, we are still working on this MMS capability and voice navigation. We greatly appreciate your patience regarding this concern."

As a person that saw the overlook of MMS by Nokia in 2009 as equally appalling as Apple's overlook of MMS in 2007; this community resolved that within months whereas Apple took two years.

The whole MMS as a deal breaker wasn't really a good enough reason - I will argue that the level of integration of fMMS was a tad bit "tacked on", but it was fully functional.

But let's look at real things that Nokia promised... not much at all really.
