I know where mplayer is on my n800; /usr/bin/mplayer. However, vc never starts the external player. It just pops up the message that it is opening the external player, but it never opens. I don't want to re-flash my n800, but I think a re-flash and no restore might fix the problem. If anyone has another idea I would appreciate it though because I have about a dozen or so programs to reinstall plus all of my bookmarks and settings.

Thanks for the tips! I tried the streams and still have had no luck. Mplayer still will not open as the external player. I can open mplayer from xterm with no problems however. Thanks again for your help.
