My N900 no longer charges from the stock AC charger, however it does charge from USB or Kindle charger. Is Nokia charger supposed to work with Kindle? In my case it does not.

Yeah, Kindle charger is basically a charger with a USB port on it. I know it is one of the few USB chargers that do work with the N900, while this probably means that Nokia charger should work with Kindle too I just wanted to confirm someone actually tried this. Up until now I practically had zero issues with the AC charger, except once it wouldn't start charging but it did after it was disconnected and connected again.

I have this same exact problem. It just started happening a few days ago. Phone does not charge from wall/car charger, but will charge from usb connected to a PC. I thought my usb connector was getting flaky, but now I'm not so sure. I've seen a couple similar posts lately. Anyone know what's going on?

Are you using your original Nokia N900 wall charger (AC-10U)? There is a known peculiarity with N900 in that it won't charge from the majority of existing generic 3rd party USB chargers, car kind including. Workarounds do exist however, search for "charging from dumb power sources" on this forum.

In my case the AC-10U was the culprit, got a direct replacement from Amazon for $11 and everything is back to normal. At the same time I'm trying to get a warranty replacement from Nokia, and the process is not smooth, but that's a whole different story.

BTW, to answer my original question, AC-10U does charge Kindle.

Yes. I'm using the AC-10U. I'll get a replacement and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for the info.

From time to time my n900 does not respond to the wall charger until I unplug and replug it.

That happened again just now. The display stayed dark and the LED did not light. For the first time I decided to open the keyboard. That made the display light up to show a dialog that a computer had been plugged in and asked me to choose PC Suite or USB mode and that current mode is charge only.

I exited the menu, but neither the battery icon or LED showed charging. lshal said charging=false. Unplugging from the wall and back in did nothing.

I gave up and shortened the life of the USB socket one more cycle and unplugged and replugged the USB.

Just be extra careful with the socket and it will outlast the phone. I never pull straight but rock the plug side to side slightly first, this releases the 2 springs on the plug one by one w/o applying unnecessary force to the socket. (I do know some ppl managed to pull their USB sockets out and Nokia acknowledged the issue).

I'm having the same issues with the micro usb wall charger that came with the N900 (interestingly the one that came with a N900 prototype earlier never had this issue). I'm now using the standard N-series Nokia charger together with the micro usb adapter. With this the N900 always starts charging immediately.
