How can it be delayed if it was not even announced yet?
Officially this thing doesn't exist.

Where are the sources on this piece of news? Totally unreliable information.

There seems to be a part of Maemo culture that believes being first and being negative about Nokia is at least if not more important than being correct.

In honor of that part of the culture I suggest that the perceived delay in this un-announced product is a good thing. That way you'll have a longer lead time and possibly a longer future post-release period to whine about everything about the N9.

'Nokia insiders' is what is being reported and on more than one website.

Does the old chinese rule come into play at some point?

Oh, please! Nobody said "officially delayed". If it is announced any slower than what we expect, then it is delayed. When is it coming if not during Nokia World?

PS. I read the linked article. Nov 15 in Dublin sounds plausible. Not much of a delay.

I think the reason is simple. Nokia really needs to build a momentum for N8 (and Symbian^3), which is supposed to be their top-selling mainstream smartphone for now. By announcing N9 they would totally ruin it.

The more clever way is to leak some blurry pictures, rumored specs and stuff like that, until the device is fully finished. That's the way how N9 stays in the headlines even though it's not even released.

Delay is good, as long they brushing out the rustiness and becoming something nice and slick.

Hopefully we will see A9 in this N9 and a very drooling specs

Eldar said yesterday that N9 would not be introduced in Nokia World so i guess the info is from there. He also said that the device would get delayed release till q1.
I'm starting to believe too that N9 will not be introduced in NW, not sure about the release date as Eldar said the same about 5800 and N900 that both did come out Q4 but did come out in Q1 in Russia thought.

I don't think the delay will lead to better hardware specs -- those are likely set in stone by now. The software may mature during the extra time though...
