After the PR 1.3 release and as lot of people have reported that there is much improvement in their N900 and that it has become faster and smoother, so is it still advisable to install Swappolube and use it to make the N900 faster? As the device is now already faster, will installing Swappolube make it any difference will it make any more faster. Does it make sense to now install Swappolube after PR 1.3 ? With PR 1.3 making N900 considerably faster is Swappolube required ?

It seems to me that Nokia has integrated the swappolube tweaks into the pr1.3.
After 4 days of uptime, the pr1.3 feels still very responsive.
I would advice anyone that has upgraded to pr1.3 to evaluate the out of the box experience without any tweaks.
After you get to know it's shortcomings I am sure pr1.3 specific tweaks will have appeared.
There' s no need for double patching!

They have not touched it. The values are identical to PR1.2.
However, it doesn't mean they didn't make other optimizations elsewhere.

Did you even think about checking the facts before making such bold statements?

i have swappolube installed and PR1.3, anf have not noticed any issue between them. the swappolube settings are still in place.

I would suggest that if Nokia did not change the settings, then swappolube may give a small incremental boost, although not as pronounced with PR1.2.

certainly appears to be doing no harm 6 days after installing 1.3

I have made similar changes that swapolube provides (swappiness=30, etc) after upgrading to PR1.3

My N900 stil works fine. I can't really comment if theres a big difference with or without the mods as I made the changes very soon after upgrading. I can only confirm they aren't part of PR1.3

So anybody here who didnt have Swappolube before installing the PR 1.3 and who has installed it after PR 1.3 and can comment on if it does feel any faster or smoother.

you could notice some improvements or then you could not. just go ahead and try for yourself (and report here your observations, please)

Hi,

As correctly mentioned above, none of the Swappolube proposed tweaks have been integrated in PR1.3.
The improvement seen comes from different optimizations mostly in the applications and not in the kernel.

Use Swappolube with caution (especially if you are not a power user). It is more a playground for experimentation than a stable solution.

Finally, would appreciate if your finding are reported back to the http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=62312 where more people are checking.

Thanks.
