I had similar problems... have you overclocked your n900? After weeks of being unable to play my own videos or movie files I played before i realized that I had set the voltage a little too low and for some reason videos would only play a few seconds or not at all. You may want to try either inspecting your clock speeds and voltages or flash a stock kernel for testing purposes. Hope this helps a little.

I'm sorry, I don't know what overclocked is and I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything like that. Anyway, would you oblidge by explaining to me how to inspect clock speed and voltage and or how to flash a stock kernel for testing. Really thanks in advance.

I just installed the new PR 1.3 and I'm facing this same problem... don't know what to do.
I've tried the command described here, restart, reboot, reflash... nothing.
Still the error comes up.

With my own recorded files, with movies I loaded... the error comes up, I just don't know what to do.
I'll keep investigating!

bye bye!

For me, .flv videos with movie are working, but those with still image and sound only .flv are not working. I wonder why...

Others complain bout flash or no voice navigation, but the issues of this thread are the most disappointing aspects of the n900 to me. I did try the site my-home-tv.com and the real player files played on my friends htc evo. So in some respects the n900 is not "a real computer" in your pocket, more then say android. this works on ubuntu, windows and andoid, why does my mini computer (since its not a phone, remember) have to be the odd man out?

I just re-flashed to 1.3 as a test, loaded NO apps and cannot play vids that I recorded on the N900 tv-out. They play on the device, but no tv-out. Actually, they kinda play. I get audio, but no video.

HOWEVER, movies I ripped from DVD play fine tv-out.

UPDATE: I flashed back to 1.2. Same problem. I cannot play vids I took with the N900, even ones back from June/July. None of them play video, just audio. Ripped DVD's play just fine.

Same behavior after flashing the EMMC.

Anyone know if there's a bug? I can't find one.

At least I have a CLEAN install now!
