One addition - use 3G but not WiFi.

There is some race condition bug between Yahoo IMAP servers and mail agent on N900 and if you use connection to Yahoo IMAP then it may don't recognize your login/password.

Actually, the same does exist for 3G but it much much rarely and because N900 mail agent usually tries login multiple times it passes.

I still have no time to debug that issue but I got tcpdump of both cases and clearly see the very fast answer in WiFi from Yahoo.

Interesting, but since PR1.0.1 (or PR1.1) Nokia deleted Yahoo IMAP servers from suggested configuration because of "connection problem"...

I believe I have Yahoo Mail over IMAP working on the N900 over both GPRS and WiFi.
I originally followed the Wiki of setting it up over GPRS first which works, but its still wouldnt connect over WiFi.

First to note is that from the N900 email app, I chose 'Other' as the mail type.
I used the settings from the Wiki [http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_Email_Opt...Mail_and_IMAP],
but ALSO had to enable the Secure Authenticaion option, which I think was off by default.

Additional options are in RED which works for me without using Nokia Messaging.

Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com

Secure authentication - tick or enable

Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)

Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Secure authentication - choose Login

Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL)

Username: full email address (e.g., bill@yahoo.com)

Password: is the password you login to Yahoo! with

Thanks for that. I've tried getting IMAP mail for my Yahoo account before, but never got it working. With your post I tried again, and it works on my N900 and Thunderbird on my netbook (though oddly I had to uncheck secure authentication for Thunderbird to get it working), both over wifi as I don't use the data connection on my phone.
