There is a magnet located above the "U" and "I" keys. It acts as the keyboard slide sensor. You're gonna have to take off the metal frame around the N900 screen to get to it.

The file that seems to control the keyboard slide is /sys/devices/platform/gpio-switch/slide/state.

cat /sys/devices/platform/gpio-switch/slide/state

This command shows the state of the keyboard, so maybe you could create a script to change this and make a shortcut for it.

any help for this issue ? I just bought a used N900 and no backlight from keyboard
