Those that have played worms, know that it's a whole lot of fun. Well, it looks like it's now available for Android via EA.

http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog...ndroid-leaked/

The premise? Destroy the opposing team by lobbing a variety of weapons at them. It's similar to a less simplified angry-birds (sans structural physics), and has provided me personally with many hours of fun in the past.

This would be FANTASTIC on the Tab's meaty screen.

And here's a video:

What a cool game. I'd actually buy this one. Worth a look.

A few new sessions have popped up on the Google I/O sessions list.
http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/sessions.html

Two that have caught my eye are:
1) Designing and Implementing Android UIs for phones and Tablets (201 level)
This should be a fairly detailed expose on the world of fragments, Google's answer to simplified cross device UIs in a single codebase. I like that its a somewhat intermediary lecture.

2) Honeycomb highlights (101 level)
One of the speakers is Romain Guy, and I'm looking forward to hearing him speak about the features of Honeycomb and the rational behind them.

3) Indoor Mapping Using the Maps API (201 level)
It looks as if Google Maps and Streetview is going indoors. Very, very, cool.

It looks like Samsung has sold 2M Tabs in Q4! An impressive number to say the least:

Also, they've sold 80M phones; no doubt most of them are feature-phones, but it's an impressive number to say the least!

Here's a video of openTTD working on the Galaxy Tab with a bluetooth mouse in tow!

Very nice indeed.

BTW: The song in the background is Trifonic - BROKEN (a remix perhaps?).

EDIT: It was a remix and its creative commons! Wow!

Ain't open-source grand? It seems that the Nook Color has received a port of Honeycomb! Can the Galaxy Tab be far behind?

With 2M Tabs in the pipe, it's only a matter of time before the Tab gets an unofficial port... Here's hoping that it's sooner rather than later!

Time for some correction and Silicon Valley cultural education:

Mountain View is spelled with two words. It's where Google's HQ is located (right next to the Ampitheater Parkway and along the same road next to the AMC Century 21 theaters and used to be the main HQ for the now defunct Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI). That office is where my old buddies and I used to hang out in the meeting rooms to gather together and watch movies on their BIG *** giant digital projection screens every Friday night (we were asked to bring two DVD's with us and we'd all vote to watch two of them that evening from the array).

I lived there for five months at a friend's house before I got my first apartment in Santa Clara nearby. The significant cities to know in and around the Silicon Valley included San Jose, Milpitas, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Mountain View and Palo Alto. To some lesser degree, although they're not really part of Silicon Valley, sometimes the cities around them or up through San Francisco and even sometimes Marin County are mistaken as being part of Silicon Valley (like Redwood City and Daly City and so on) because they also have a large tech industry in those cities as well (i.e. Redwood City is home to Broadcom and used to be home to BeOS and @Home).

Also.. the shorthand for California is a two-letter code of "CA" (so, Mountain View, CA, is appropriate whereas Mountain View, Calif, doesn't look right (i.e. never used in any official way). If you're trying not to confuse it with Canada's two letter '.ca' for domain names, you might even add "Mountain View, CA, USA. But then, I don't think anybody would confuse Mountain View as being in Canada if it's about Google and moreover if you're referring to the state instead of a province. i.e. Maple Ridge, BC, is hard to confuse with any US city and state).

Hope that's helpful despite sounding like an anal-retentive jackass, which I recognize that I probably am. :P

Hello all!

Quick question?

OfficeSuite pro or Documents to go?

I can't decide? OfficeSuite is a little cheaper.

I did try Documents to go on my N900 and it sucked......and was lacking so many features!

It's a home screen widget that keeps the screen from turning off or locking. Should be VERY useful when reading a book, or any other operation where you would want the page to stay on.

Let me know if it works.

I believe that e-readers should disable slepping by default (this is not hard to do), or at the very least extend the awake-time significantly. It's just shoddy programming and one would think that the developers of said apps never actually tried their applications at any great length (or are speed readers).

Still, the widget should be helpful. Have at it.
Thanks. Doesn't quite fix the issue I have. I don't mind the screen switching off and I even set it to switch off quite early to save battery. What I have an issue with is the device locking when the screen switches off. This has a two fold annoying effect.

1. I need to find the small lock button to unlock rather than just tapping anywhere on the 7 inch screen to wake up the device.

2. I have to remove security from the device because having to put in a code every time the device locks would drive me insane.

What I want, and what seems like common sense (and what I have had on every prior device) is the ability to set screen time out independent from lock timer.
