It took again long time to find out how to prevent this behavrior.

But finally it is working now. More work is to be done, as I don't have many
online contacts, I need some feedback from you.
What statusupdate you would like to see. Message about

-users going online?
-change statusmessage?
-go offline?

At the moment the notification shows this yellow bubble when a user changes the status.
I configured the notification to autodisappear after six seconds, that way it doesn't show the yellow
notification window in the task switcher view. I don't think we need this window, as long as
we only want to see this yellow bubble.

Vibration and/or Led-notification support?
What to do when the screen is blanked, turn on the display or skip
the notification?

Nicolai, thanks so much for spending time on this and your other apps. They've made the N900 a MUCH better device, and I'm sure many other users appreciate the work you've done. Great stuff, sir!

I would like to see in settings some options to chose from
1. vibration on/off
2. visual notification on/off
3 sound notification on/off

Also please let us know the name of the app so we will check from time to time if it's in the repositories :-)

presence-notifier

Ready for testing. Feedback is welcome.
I hope the settings page in the control panel is intuitive.
You can:
- enable/disable the notification
- enable for all status changes or only for "... goes online" notifications
- enable for all status message changes.
- configure the notification window (autohide notification after X seconds).

regards
Nicolai

hello Nicolai
thank you too for spending your time to help us.
I have installed the app and I am facing problems with it.
it notifies me of online contacts as soon as I sign in.
it does not notify me when other contacts come online.
I have tried it with my 2 msn accounts. one on my N900 and the other one on my laptop.
status change does not work.
also I get the notification only for the first time and not everytime I go online with N900
