What did all of that R&D money bring forth so far? Seriously.

You people are all about dumping more money into something that's produced damn near nothing.

Want to support it, petition some other manufacturer with seriously deep pockets to keep pouring money into a wet dream with no real deliverable outside of half-working betas and UI experiments and really no apps.

Start accepting reality.

Some of us have done that a little earlier. Those negative voices you hear from time to time on the forum? Early signs.

Hate to say it but there's nothing to be done about this. The market will decide in time if this was a commercially viable decision or not.

Of course, personally I think it's a complete betrayal of hundreds of thousands of users, and reading the marketing BS spewing forth about how great WP7 and its accompanying "ecosystem" makes me feel queasy.

To be fair, I didn't know that the Zune marketplace had 6 million songs in it. But that doesn't really get me excited as I'd need to buy a WP device to use it on my phone. No thanks.

No apps? How many apps does wp7 have? Cross platform qt was such a wonderful plan. Ovi store downloads were picking up nicely. The recent increase in qt apps was clearly there. Nokia dumped everything for xbox live & zune?

It's a very big deal. Unfortunately it gets us no closer to the MeeGo handset we have all been craving.

I feel very bad for those Symbian staff in Tampere, because some of them will lose jobs over this, and they will be looking for work with specialist skills which are far less valuable today than they were yesterday.

If Nokia wanted to differentiate, why it didn't finish Meego and bought Alien Dalvik license to every Meego-phone?

Who would buy Android-phone when you get Android-applications and real Linux under and possible qt-apps also?

Meego phone would had got enough applications in the start to go over "critical mass" with Alien Dalvik. The two years head start with Android would had been vanished right away.

Why do you guys think that elop made this decision without the boards approval. Obviously they approved and hence will not fire him.

Its just time to dump nokia. Too bad microsoft and the idiotic board destroyed a great institution.
