I just plugged my N900 into my laptop to transfer some photos I took today. While I was there I decided to clean up a bit and I deleted some images.

Now when I look on my phone and go to my photo album, I see a load of read-only files in with my pictures, but it won't let me delete them from the phone. They aren't there when I plug the phone into the laptop.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of them?

are they all in some specific folder?
Also try checkdisk via pc to check memory.Sometimes disconnecting without eject makes read only error in n900

When you open the menu and click 'photos', they're in there. I can't see them in a folder in my file manager.

then try checkdisk via pc or else if u have rootsh installed

try
root
umount /home/user/MyDocs
fsck.vfat -a /dev/mmcblk0p1
mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /home/user/MyDocs

and then reboot your n900

or try finding those files via filebox if they hidden.

I downloaded rootsh but I don't know how to use it. How do I access it? It's not on my menu.

You can try to install filebox and set it to be root and then go to the folder where you got the images and try to delete them.

You can also try to type sudo gainroot and then cd to /home/user/MyDocs/.images (or replace .images with DCIM if itīs pictures taken with the camera and remove with the rm command. Use the command ls to see whats in the directory.
