Glad I got in here before Linux zealots sabotage the thread.
I had a similar issue but for me flashing it fixed the problem.

The only thing different I had done to the device prior to reflashing, was install black-plastic-theme, and had only had this problem afterwards.
Does anyone know what else I can try to get my brightness to adjust and to display to completely turn off again?
Thanks!

When I lock the screen with the side switch or wait for the backlight to timeout, the backlight still retains a very faint dim and does not completely turn off anymore.
I reflashed both the eMMC and rootfs with PR1.3 and this problem still exists. The only thing different I had done to the device prior to reflashing, was install black-plastic-theme, and had only had this problem afterwards.
Does anyone know what else I can try to get my brightness to adjust and to display to completely turn off again?
Thanks!
