Well, I just purchased my second N900 a couple of weeks ago. Like others here have said, the likelihood of something as good as the N900 being available any time soon is low. The N900 software ecosystem is still growing. We have excellent new apps still appearing and the CSSU is going strong and doing well. And, for $350 the N900 right now is a steal. With two N900s (one of them fresh from the repair center with a repaired USB port) I am all set for a few years. It does all I need and more.

PS: It wouldn't surprise me to see Flash 10.x support on the N900 eventually. This community is awesome.

I suppose it's true that the only thing better than one app is two apps, plus you get to brag that your library grew 100% larger. I'm not sure you want to boast about the quantity of N900 software. Maybe the QUALITY could be argued, but quantity and platform support is often pointed out as not the N900's best feature, nor its most important one. It is certainly not a bragging point.

The number of applications may not be as large as in other device ecosystems, but it already covers all my needs, with flying colors. And it is still growing! That is all I am saying. I certainly don't need thousands of applications installed on my phone. I already have too many. (That reminds me, I have to do some house keeping.)

Yes the proximity is working fine in this case. I think the problem is when you are using the phone, everything gets slower. Phone doesn't have the priority when comparing to other programs on this device.

I think I'm pretty much stuck firmly on the Nokia N9x0 series, especially after I found out the first MeeGo release is the N950.
my phone still has around two and a half years in it, I'm in no rush

Good to hear that the hardware is working fine, that means we can solve the problem in software level.

The phone app gets slow when some other apps dragging it behind. You would like to check whether you have installed some phone app related, programs, or anything starts with advance-power- something (my apology again to the maintainer of advance-power-*)

My next phone after my beloved N900 is:
on the way in the mail right now.

I ordered a ZTE Blade (aka. Orange San Francisco over there) which landed somewhere between a fourth and a third of the N900 in price.

It is with heavy heart I exit the Maemo 5 platform for an Android platform with less potential. However, since I gave my N900 an unexpected bath, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth hasn't been working and 3G internet is also problematic. It's just time to find a replacement. Since I can't find anything perfect, I settle with a cheap but high resolution Android phone.

Compared to my "optimal" phone, this one is stylus-hostile, glove-hostile, single-core, keyboard-challenged, dalvik-limited java sandbox. I'm not really excited to move to Android.

However, I do have some hopes for VMWare on Android in the future.

I still have my N800, and I expect I'll be using that more now.

15 people were laid off from where I work yesterday. The economy is in shambles. Disasters such as the one in Japan are only going to make things worst globally. Since most of the N900 applications are native, I can choose to forgo my data plan and it is still very functional. In this economy, having an N900 is a big plus.

case must be waterproof and shockproof
