Thanks for the great update!

Is there any way to disable the camera application when pressing on the camera button?
Even with Shortcutd, it still opens the camera app with the new update when pressing the button (even if i press it just very shortly)

quick and new Camera UI + portrait task viewer = amazing CSS update

cannot wait for the new Media Player

Edit: is it possible to fix the bug that causes MP3 ringtones to be cracking/static/distorted sounding? I believe the problem (based on https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6784) is that there's a problem with the wav conversion.. This bug has been bugging me (no pun intended :P) ever since I got the phone (Dec 2009) because I can't use mp3's as ringtones!

bugs:
- task manager doesnt always go into portrait.
- transitions.ini overwritten by update.

Oi, people, if you're going to be posting advice on this thread for people complaining about problems, at least THINK THE ENTIRE PROBLEM through before suggesting solutions. Going out of your way to help is admirable and commendable; but make as sure as you can that you don't increase the likelihood of confusion for the people you're trying to help.

Code:
apt-get install mp-fremantle-community-pr
- DOES solve the "update with Ovi Suite" error. It does NOT solve the libqt4-test problem.

apt-get update/upgrade will not solve anything if the person NEVER installed the CSSU; if they're asking how to upgrade in general, you should note that it's quite possible they never did install CSSU, and thus give solutions for both possibilities.

libqt4-test issue is solved by uninstalling Khweetur or whatever it's called - the Twitter client that depends on a specific libqt4-test version. (Telling someone to apt-get remove libqt4-test will simply break Khweetur if that's why they are having the problem if the user figures out how to force apt-get to disregard the dependency error, or if not, most likely it'll just error out, because Khweetur depends on that version of libqt4-test.)

@Rantom: I actually never got the side-scrollable, 9-desktop view enabler after I had originally installed the CSSU, back when it first became implemented. I had to enable the desktops using GConf, and even then I COULDN'T set the wallpapers for the life of me, I had to manually find some cache file and update it with extra lines for wallpapers (editing my theme to have more wallpapers listed for desktops 5-9 and reapplying said theme in various ways never worked) After I reflashed, however, and installed the CSSU as one of the very first things I installed, it worked perfectly right from the beginning. I suspect there's some package that could screw things up somewhere, and then the CSSU fails to properly override it; however, a newly reflashed device is guaranteed not to have said software, so it doesn't come up.

You need to have a file in your theme's backgrounds folder called applicationmanager-portrait.png.

You can look in your N900's /opt/usr/share/themes/alpha/backgrounds/ folder to see what the CSSU's included backgrounds for the stock alpha ("N-Series Theme") is. Or switch beta with alpha to see the "Digital Nature Theme"'s one.

2 n00B questions:

.) Does CSSU replace the need to flash, or should one flash a flaky N900 before trying CSSU?

.) Any WAGs about when a stable version might show up?

Thanks for your efforts!

Great update. But there is one small bug:

When you use the device in potrait mode, you press home button into multitasks. The multitasks doesn't rotate according to the position unless you turn the device into lanscape then rotate it back, it is then rotate as well.

If this can be fix then it would be superb
Get the multi tasks to read the position of the accelerometer and rotate instead of comparing it from 0 to 90degree.

For some unknown reason my device keeps shutting down after reboot. What is the problem with the update? o.O

It started up but my screen is messed up and then died again! WTF
