Hi br1zer, might I suggest also adding your request to the coding competition application requests list? There's no guarantee it will be picked up by someone to work on, but you never know

Nah ,you're missing the point of 4Sq. I've found it useful to leave and pick up tips and advice about places I've been checking into. Particularly useful when visiting a Town or City you are not familiar with.
Besides...in these austere times, a check in costs me nothing. A text costs 10p

I'm currently working on an foursquare app for Maemo.
It currently is possible to search for venues and checkin at venues, but it is far from complete.
I've made this app in QT Creator (in C++).
I will start a thread here when a early release is available.
Send me an PM if you want to test the pre-alpha version.
I don't know if i will participate in the MeeGo Coding Competition 2011, it depends on how far my application is done.

Thanks for the offer. I will keep this in mind!
I'm no graphical designer, so I might need some help

From a quick skim of the thread you linked it appears that the Barriosquare application was written in python with Qt bindings. The good news is we have a lot of developers on here with those skills. Do you know if the code was made available by the author, and where it might be? With a little luck it may be that all it needs is the Foursquare api calls tweaked, so that they match the new api methods.
Im not familiar with Foursquare myself but your best chance at finding a developer who is would be on the main thread. If none has come forward, it might help your chances if you can do a little leg work on the developers behalf - find out where the links to the apis are, if there's any help docs on how to use them, etc. I'd then suggest making a post with a little background on what the application does, a link to the new Foursquare apis and help docs, a link to the Barriosquare app code (if available), and any other info you'd like to include (feature requests, etc). That way a developer can quickly make a decision to get involved or not, rather than skipping it completely cos they dont want spend time hunting out details on something they might not be very interested in.
