The TI OMAP chip is under the Samsung chip. If you pry off the Samsung chip you can see the clearly marked TI OMAP 2420EZAC N YB chip underneath.

(Yes, you have to destroy the N800 to find that out.)

Wow!..and thanks.

What occurred to present you with the opportunity to rip the silicon apart?

And while we are on the subject of chips...
Does anyone know if the FM radio chip can be used to transmit low level FM to a nearby FM radio as an additional sound output?

Maybe he just know it? It was discussed in maemo lists (or on irc?). Someone asked why they added exactly 256MB of flash (too smal in his opinion) or maybe why they added it at all instead of some other solution (don't remember, maybe small flash + boot from bigger internal mmc) and someone from nokia responded that it comes in one chip with the CPU so they just used it as is. Also something along the lines that if one has bad blocks in flash it is bad because the flash chip cannot be replaced alone but together with CPU.

I've got some 770s I can (and will soon) take apart if anyone is interested... although if I remember right thoughtfix may have covered that. I need to perform surgery to try to make a few good units out of several bad ones.

Wish I had some non-working N800s, too...

the Samsung chip is just memory: 128MB DDR DRAM + 256MB flash
