I find it funny when you enter a zip code instead of city/state, it will show up as not available. When you don't enter a zip code and choose city/state instead it says available

"If you haven't received a shipment confirmation by January 16, 2009, let us know by visiting the URL below:"

Well it's quite a bit past Jan 2009...

I called Bestbuy in San Diego and the girl over the phone told me that the "stock day" was yesterday, but her system is showing that all stores in San Diego do NOT have it in stock.

Hmm, ordering that way seems not to work. It redirects to a blank page after I log in.

hmm... I found this link interesting as I tried to search for few other cities and most of them show available (which is not the case when I search directly from bestbuy's website), and I'm talking about not so big cities like Wichita KS and Oklahoma City OK.

I cannot imagine Amazon or BestBuy flashing devices, they will simply wait for the second batch.
No no, nobody flashes the device but the consumer. You get the device into their hands and let them flash it. Just put a notice in each shipment saying "you need to flash this before use, and give them detailed instructions". Or even have it built into the default firmware it ships with an alert or message saying "the firmware on this device is out of date, complete performance and stability is not guaranteed, please upgrade the firmware as soon as possible".

Or unless they did it like Apple where you just plug it into any Windows PC or OSX to upgrade it. You could make a program for Linux too though most people can do it themselves (given the directions).

I rather have that than what they're doing now.

That's because if you search by city and state it shows available, but if you search by zip code it doesn't...

With Amazon pushing back (at least some) orders to mid-Jan and not sounding too sure about that, I couldn't resist checking on my pre-order from Newegg, especially since NokiaUSA/Brightpoint shafted me on my Sept 4 pre-order.

Still says the release date is Nov 30, but I noticed they reduced the limit per customer from 20 to 5.

I actually tried zip code and city alone both returns the same result. You can try 67220 (Wichita, KS) and it shows available
