i downloaded DiskUsage and these are the readings: (i assume the red bar is the amount used up.

/ rootfs shows 55% used 44% available
/mnt/initfs /dev/root shows 100% used
/mnt/intfs/tmp none shows 21%used and 78% available
/tmp none shows 21% used and 78% available
/dev none shows a tiny red bbar and 97% available
/dev/shm tmpfs shows 100% available
/media/mmc2 /dev/mmcblk0p shows 66%used and 33% available.
can you make any sense out of this and please tell me where i am going wrong. thanks for the help, if you need more info i will give some.

if there is anyone looking at this post in confusion please look at my previouse posts. thanks

Thanks for the info. They are helpful.

What have you done after your reflash? And how much you want to partition on your internal card, i.e., just tell me the numbers you used will be fine.
Now, you have DiskUsage open, touch 1st row /rootfs what is the Total:? touch last 2nd row /media/mmc2 (you may not have it) what is the Total:? Touch the very last row /media/mmc1, what is the Total:?

The above exercise tells you whether you have succeed in partition the internal card the way you wanted. If the partition is correct, you are onto step 2. If not, back track redo the partition.

now goto xterm, type
cat /proc/partitions

Tell me the last 5 rows numbers, start with 254 0 mmcblk0
all the way to 254 9 1966072 mmcblk1p1

1) The device displays 1KB available data, so I am unable to install any programs. I wanted to also install KDE but at this point i do not have any available space to install anything. The internal memory card displays 14.73 GB available.

Does this mean i screwed up the cloning process? Do i have to start all over and edit the partioning values? I used the values that were given for a 16gb card.

Any help would be really appreciated.
your partition maynot be what you want to be.
Are you using N800? Are you cloning to /media/mmc1 external card behind the kick stand or /media/mmc0 internal card next the battery? What is your partition numbers that you typed in? I think your partition messed up. Go xterm, type
cat /proc/partitions
and report the last 5 rows (see 1 post ahead of this one)

and read this too, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=16067.

You are using a 16G Adata, right? I think you CANNOT proceed without a Panasonic low level formatting process.

Post back if questions,

Hey Bunanson,
Thanks for the help. I have a nokia n800 clonning to mmc1, the internal memory card. I followed the instructions on the first page, after this line:

[you should now see a prompt that ends with mmcblk0p1 and a colon]
[the following is for an 8GB card; for a 2GB card use 1100 instead of 7100; for a 4GB card, use 3100; for a 16GB card, use 15100]
[If you want to understand this better, see this post.]
0,7100,0C [after entering this, the new prompt should end in p2]

* Instead of using 7100 I used 15100.

The last 5 rows read:

31 3 2048 mtdblock3
31 4 257536 mtdblock4
254 0 15694336 mmcblk0
254 1 15462399 mmcblk0p1
254 2 231936 mmcblk0p2

Im not quite sure how to explain what type of partions i wanted, but i wanted enough space to be able to install many programs and also have space to install KDE, so maybe about 4gb for the internal device memory and the rest for the external memory card. When you mean I cannot proceed without low level formating do you mean I have format the sd card and then redo the whole process? Will i be able to do this using linux?

OK. Good news, KDE needs more than 2 G for the installation, 2.5G to be safe. So, even if it works, you wont be able to install KDE. Aint that sweet? So you are up to more exercise for the cloning. 2nd point, /media/mmc1 is the EXTERNAL card, the one you get access behind the kick stand, the one you DO NOT have to open the battery compartment. Is this the one you want to clone to? Or you would like to clone to the one next to the battery compartment, /media/mmc2, the INTERNAL card? Here is the bad news, your /media/mmc1 is NOT there, partition failed. You need the Panasonic LLF, and after successful partition, using 12800 instead of 15100, then proceed with the cloning process. Post back with your results,

bun

I remember I tried to install KDE onto a 2.1 G partiton and ran out of space. and I think I succeeded by installing onto a 2.3 G partition. You do not need 2 G to run KDE, but you should have 2.5 G for the installation to be safe.
The 2nd question woulld have to refer to PB, the guru. In general, apps installed would ONLY be accessed from the same booting system, i.e., apps installed on flash boot would NOT be accessed from MMC boot etc. KDE may be a different beast.

Hey Bunanson,
Thanks for all your help. After doing everything all over including the low level formatting, i was able to get everything working fine. Although one weird thing happened. After I started from the beginning, after formatting my card it said I had 15.1 gb of free space so somehow about 700mb were lost. Any advice about this?

Good to hear it worked. Where is this 15.1 gb you are talking about? I think it is the partition you are using, 15100, right? Do you have 2.5 G space for KDE?

Report again, what is your cat /proc/partitions again, the whole listing please. That should tell you where is the 15.1 G coming from.
