Let me know where I can help. I wouldn't mind poking around in kernel code for fun on my downtime, in fact I'm starting to read up on kernel coding in general to augment my understanding of computer hardware and potentially low-level programming in Linux.

does every android device become unresponsive and give lots of force close warnings everytime some one tries to use it, or is it just mine?
it cant be apps or widgets causing it as i removed everything and flashed it, and it still happens every 15 mins or so
and the annoying (buzz........buzz buzz) vibration that happens everytime it freezes is awful!
holding the power key to shut the device down is my only way out of it sometimes

Hmm I thought it was just my Tab that had this issue. Sorry to hear you have this problem but glad I am not all alone.

Thought it may be things installed from the market causing the issue but it even happens every time I try to use the Samsung email app for the first time after switching on the device.

Boggling! I've seen this happen on very rare occasion--not enough for me to even mention it (I think the last time I've seen an app to this to me was probably a few weeks ago). Is there something different about mine (newer build?) or is there something else running concurrently in memory at the time it misbehaves?

Mine is a Samsung Galaxy Tab for Verizon (USA) SCH-I800 (Build number SCH-I800.DJ11) and Kernel version 2.6.32.9 root@sep-40 #3.

Ugh.. this just pisses me off. I'm glad I have 2.2 on my Tab but.. seriously?

I can't wait until the community ROMs (especially Cyanogen) start coming out on the Tab.

On my Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the OS identifies the model as the SCH-I800 (USA). You can find our your model number by starting at the desktop, tap the MENU button below the screen, tap SETTINGS, scroll down and tap ABOUT DEVICE and look at MODEL NUMBER.

There's an article here with the list of model numbers for the various versions of the device:

Also, be sure to browse through the XDA forums too...

Particularly the CyanogenMod thread, since they effectively have the same objectives in mind:

Here's a great one! The TI calculator emulator 'Almost Real' has been ported to Android! This would look fabulous on the Tab:

This is one of my favorite apps and I'm glad that it's been ported!

Pfft, I'll do you one better.

For best effect also play this video while looking the image. =P
Sound Effect

BTW: You were wrong about Samsung updates =P (they're doing some funky business with bringing Froyo to the Galaxy S line). Will definantly have to stick with HTC when I get around to getting an Android smartphone.
