Uh... where do you get that from?

The OP installed ITOS2008beta, found it plenty quick, then uninstalled it and went back to ITOS2007, which he thinks is now faster than before.

If the latter is true and not a subjective feeling, then it must mean that some of the changes of ITOS2008beta (like the increase in processor speed, for instance) may have survived the "flashback".

So, if true,

1) this should not happen and

2) what other stuff lurks in the unflashable depths of the Itablets? Is Nokia "pulling a Sony" on its users?

There is also the distinct possibility that the OP is deluded... I guess a freshly reflashed tablet could feel snappier than it was with the same OS image burdened with a few months' worth of apps, repos and libs. Hmm... sort of reminds me of that other OS, name of which escapes me ATM... :-)

Actually I installed everything I had before and even more apps than before and still i find way faster! I`ma have a look around to see if indeed my cpu is running at 400mhz or just 320mhz like it should.

Install a Terminal app and run "cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep BogoMIPS"

No, because system libraries and applications and suchlike don't make any difference to the "speed" of your computer/tablet unless they are being used.

I reckon it's subjective and not really quicker. The speed limiting of OS2007 is part of the kernel, isn't it? And you can easily verify that has been downgraded by doing a "uname -a" in xterm. Even the bogomips rating is kind of useless. I've often done "something" to my PC that is supposed to make it "faster" and for a few minutes it does feel quicker... but then I realise it isn't and it's all my own perception.

Hence the emphatic conditional in my replies.

Also, I think "expanding" known Windows behaviour to a Linux distribution is a bit stretching. My Itablet is steadily progressing to the 200 day mark without reboot and sluggishness is definitely not one of its traits. Linux treats memory (real and virtual) vastly differently from Windows.

Actually, on the point of subjective impressions it's kinda weird the OP would experience an increased snappiness of his retrofitted Itablet. One would expect it would have felt more sluggish after the fantabulous speed of ITOS2008.

No?

Did just that and is running # 320mhz still, so now i wonder if its a mental thing that I feel faster than before with double the apps installed.

Okay, my bad... I must have missed that.
