MM is RASTER. All routes are downloaded. It does not have the vector info for rerouting.

MM can do rerouting, but only with an internet connection, since the routing is done by the server. MM downloads maps, and downloads routes prior to the trip. It will give you turn info when you reach a preselected turn point on the route, no matter which direction you're going. It's not a full-blown mapping program with routing. The advantage is that the maps are free, and you can download only what you need, to save storage space. The raster maps are aesthetically more pleasing, and you can get satellite photos, street maps, or hybrids, at whatever zoom levels you want. Wayfinder can do rerouting any time, because it uses vector maps, but the downside is that they aren't free, and the visual quality is lower. Which you prefer is a matter of choice, depending on your priorities. Roadmaps is another Maemo app, and it uses vector maps from the government census data, and they are free. They aren't as detailed as commercial vector maps, though, and don't contain some essential information, such as one-way streets. It will happily route you the wrong way on an interstate highway or any other one-way street, because it has no information about that. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch - TAANSTAFL.
