I sounds like you are trying to run applets... Is this correct? I found I can run applets by installing Jalimo plus the additional classpath-tools package from the same repository. This installs gappletviewer which you can use to view applets much like Sun's appletviewer app. It seems slow, but is definitely workable with non-intensive apps. If you want to run the applets right in the browser, you will have to find some way to port the gcjwebplugin which is also part of gnu classpath, but I can't seem to find it in the Jalimo repository.
I was experimenting with trying to run the citrix client applet, and it seems to work, but is unbearably sssllloooowww, but I'll post about that in a different thread.
If you are on OS2008, you will not be able to use PhoneME, as it is not ported to that platform yet. But if you are < os2008, you may want to give that a try also. I think there is somebody working on the OS2008 port, but info is few and far between.
