I think it to be absurd to have to pay for the map/navigation. I already bought the device, and I would have to pay... AGAIN? Ridiculous.

I constantly get locks in 30 seconds or less, if A-GPS can get a net connection. That is the key. When starting from home I start Wayfinder while I am within WLAN range. Otherwise the phone net connection can take a while to get going. But either way it is a totally different experience than before A-GPS.
The routing with Wayfinder is a bit odd at times, but it works fine for me. I wouldn't think of getting a full GPS unit now.
