I just wanted to say 'thanks', too. I really like Fuelpad and enjoy using it - with the drawback that I actually have to pay the fuel at first.

My only remark is that I had to include a "virtual" first trip to tweak the average consumption calculation. In general I enter my data after filling up my car. So "Trip [km]" and "Fill [litre]" are historical data while "Km" is current data. Yet, the distance for the average consumption is calculated "Latest Km" - "First Km". Yet it ought to be something like "Latest Km" - "First Km" - "First Trip [km]". I added a virtual first trip with zero consumption to correct it. But as I said, I have no other complain.

Again, thanks for this nice program,
icke

If you think that you have corrupted your database in such a way, you can send the database file to me and I can fix it manually. The default database location is /home/user/MyDocs/fuelpad.db. In File manager, this is the root directory.

Before I'll have the time to fix this, please do not edit reminders with version 0.80 (0.70 and before work)!
I have released 0.81 which fixes this critical bug and two less critical ones. Please update from extras-devel.

Thanks for your comments. When I start with a new car, I always enter the first odometer reading. That way I know exactly the total distance I have driven with the car. Therefore Fuelpad works as it works. This is described in Fuelpad's help:

When you enter the first record into the database, you have probably just bought your car with an almost empty fuel tank. Since you probably don't know the distance from last refill, this first refill is not taken into account when calculating the average fuel consumption seen in the Information toolbar. From the second refill on, FuelPad automatically calculates the average fuel consumption.

This has been implemented in 0.80 and 0.81. Please check the menu View/Select columns... and check the appropriate item (Price/trip).

Dear jlu,

Thanks for the clarification. This seems to be some sort of hen / egg, err, car / fuelpad problem. In my case, the car came first. But for the next, I know what to do first.

Thanks,
icke cv

Another update (release 0.82) is in extras-devel. This update is useful for those of you who use the reminder system with other units than SI. There was some issues with handling the unit conversions, which resulted in incorrect estimated next miles and dates. This should be now corrected.

Enough testing: 0.82 is now in extras repository and also in maemo.org Downloads section http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/fuelpad/.

Thanks for the great program. I have been waiting for this for a while and now I don't have to use my Palm device anymore to update my mileage every time I fillup. (finally the N800 is my only mobile device). This program is setup with everything I need except for one small thing. It would be great if we have a choice to choose between l/100km vs km/l in the SI unit. Personally I prefer km/l. I found it more useful and easier to calculate how many litres of gas I would consume if I take a long trip with the distance known. It is like the US unit in miles/gal. Thanks again for the great program and for finally putting my Palm into retirement.

It actually never occurred to me that someone might be interested in measuring the fuel economy in km/l. Is it common in some countries?

I'll see what I can do about adding this option.

km/l used to be the unit to measure fuel econonmy of a car similar to the miles/gallon. Many metric countries changed the method of using fuel consumption instead of fuel econonmy. Fuel consumption is measured in l/100km. I find it more useful and easier to determine how much gas and money I will use on a trip if I know the average km/l for a car. Many of the mileage programs I used before do have the options to choose between km/l and l/100km. It's great if you are able to include this in the next update. Otherwise, it's not a big deal, it's a great program as it is. Thanks.
