Is that problem still going on? I'm unable to get the catalogue from extras-devel right now due to the same error.
Akamai should be able to sync slightly faster than 24hours, or not?

Try to remove extras-devel from and app manager, refresh catalogues and put it back.
I've had this problem occasionally at least couple of weeks.

You should open a bug report with exact error messages. It's working fine for me now.

So it is no problem to get web content flushed and refreshed in a very short time, but downloadables can take longer.
24 hours seems to be a tad too long, though - but that all depends on how you configure "your cache" on Akamai.
