that is true.
to heavy music user that are interested in the N900, make sure that you have a decent headset. The standard one from nokia was OK. I have a sennhaiser and it works awesome. My sony on the other hand, wasn't performing good.

I've had my device for 2.5 weeks now, and never had it reboot. I have stop/started it a few times, but never because of any kind of problem. My uptimes have varied between 2 and 4 days.

in my case, i use it heavily. browse the net 3-5 hours/day. snap pictures, music, email, and txt throughout the day. Mine lasts 6 to 12 hours roughly.
