If you just want a phone that works very well as a phone and has a decent, easy to use camera (as far as phone cameras are concerned) then I would humbly suggest that the k850i is the better one. If you need more (wi-fi, browser, general computer applications) then the N900 is obviously in a very different (better) league.

Guys, I wasn't comparing the k850i to the n900 as a whole, I was comparing JUST THE phone aspect. Anyway thanks all, I will probably order the n900 and see how it goes in the next few weeks.

One more question, if you keep recharging the battery or overcharger it, does it get less efficient/hold less charge as time goes on?

The phone aspect of the N900 isn't very feature rich so you might want to look into that before buying it.

Can you be more specific? What is missing from the n900 that you expect a good mobile phone to have?

take a read buddy, google is your friend. Take a deep plunge and if you're okay with it then Go for it.

I can high light the main point below then you are ready:

- No portrait mode (yet) for application and UI other than Phone UI
- No MMS, FM Radio App (YET)
- No Voice Navigation (YET)
- No digi compass
- You can't use SMS portrait mode.

if you are okay with that then go for it.

K850i using Cybershot and it has Xeon Flash module in it. But the camera itself quite laggy while the picture quality is not much different in day time to N95 or N900. But Night time the Xeon Flash would make it better. Cybershot is best of picture but not so good with Video, while Carl Zeiss is one of the top lens maker in the world (german) is good on all Picture and Video. All Cybershot camera using Carl Zeiss lens while the SE phones its only just Cybershot without Carl Zeiss lens, that because Nokia has licensed to use Carl Zeiss in its phones.

I mean the real phone aspect of it.
i.e.
Only 2 profiles
1 ringtone for all contacts
etc.

They'll most likely get addressed someday, doesn't bother me personally. Don't even have the phone yet

Probably due to Flash content. Any time I've seen that on my 800 it's been due to flash. Tear is faster than Micro-b though.

From what I can make of the information I am getting, the n900 camera is WORSE than my k850i's overall which is a real shame. Things like different ringtones for different people doesn't bother me, I am not aware the k850i can even do this anyway.

As I said, I will buy the n900 and see how it is as a phone, if it's good or ok I will use it as a phone, if not, I simply carry on using my k850i and use the n900 as an Internet tablet.

Still would like an answer to my previous question " if you keep recharging the battery or overcharger it, does it get less efficient/hold less charge as time goes on? "

Websites like wikipedia is an example of slow. When I load a page, I see all the information but the tablet just freezes for 5 seconds or more before I can actually scroll down. Not sure what Tear and Micro-b are, are these cables? What does that have to do with the speed of webpages?
